Hello! I’m Robert Jordan, also known as ThatGuyWhoSpins! I'm a professional color guard performer, designer, and educator based in St. Louis, Missouri, and I've had the privilege of sharing my passion for color guard around the globe.

My journey in this field has been nothing short of fun, educational, and extraordinary! I've marched with some of the most prestigious groups in the world, including the RCC Marching Tigers, Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, Fantasia Winterguard, and The Blue Devils. Along the way, I've won two world championships and two George Zingali “Best Color Guard” awards.

But my work doesn't stop at performing. I'm committed to educating the next generation of color guard performers. I work with various A, Open, and World Class groups year-round, conducting clinics, private lessons, and teaching effective social media marketing. I've also had the honor of working with international groups and circuits, including Colorguard Indonesia, BMZ Indoor from Costa Rica, and Pride of The Netherlands.

Programs I've Worked With

“Okay, you just teach…?”

Between 2013 and 2021, I dedicated myself to nurturing the color guard community in Southern California, instructing five schools and nine groups on a weekly basis. I took on the role of Caption Head at Citrus Hill High School, Valley View High School, and Redlands East Valley High School. Additionally, I contributed as a weapon technician and choreographer at Etiwanda High School, Nogales High School, and in the earlier years, Rancho Verde High School. My teaching experience also extends to younger students, having served as a technician and instructor at Palm Desert Charter Middle School for multiple years.

Through my years of running programs, I studied information and techniques I had learned while marching, some of which is from the best minds in our activity- people who have created the techniques we all use today! I utilized this information to begin building training programs for my students that I saw weekly. This gave me a chance to learn the ins and outs of how to truly stack, build, or scaffold skillsets at all levels, while still utilizing tricks and tips that I was not only learning, but realizing and creating on my own as well.

Beyond California, in my earlier years of educating and learning, I had the privilege of designing shows, choreographing, and implementing training programs for several groups in Nevada, including Desert Pines High School, Basic Academy High School, and Durango High School. This gave me a chance to utilize the information I taught to my students on a weekly basis and craft Self-sustaining technique programs that I can share with programs that may not have a weekly or monthly technician to help them.

My ambition is not just to make color guard a household name, but to showcase the limitless possibilities within the modern-day marching arts community. Whether it's through teaching, designing, or performing, I strive to make a meaningful impact in every aspect of my work.
